Maldives is one of those destinations that stays on top of my wish list but haven’t really thought about going. I guess it always appealed to me as a honeymoon destination, a little too unseemly at the time for the single city girl that I am :). But when an opportunity to go came up, I said yesss in a heartbeat! And boy was I glad for that.
Now here comes the tricky part – arranging the accommodation. The most beautiful resorts (and there’s a lot of them!) in Maldives are not cheap, and we definitely want to stay in one of those. After months of serious deliberation, hehe, we decided to stay with Anantara Dhigu. This is one of the more luxurious resorts in South Male atoll, just 35 minutes by speedboat from Male International Airport. The transfer is arranged with the resort.

What is there to do in Maldives? A lot! For one, if you’re a water sports fanatic, there is an array of activities available in the resort from the easy-and-slow to adrenaline-filled adventures.
Here are some of the activities we tried ourselves:
Snorkelling
Maldives is home to one of the best coral reefs in the world, and the good news is you don’t have to be a diver to appreciate this! Not a very good swimmer myself, but off the shores of our resort, I totally forgot about that hehe.

Parasailing
The skies were beautiful throughout our trip, except during the time that we went parasailing haha. It suddenly drizzled just a few minutes before I took off, hence the dark skies. Too bad i did not bring my phone up with me so I wasn’t able to capture the magnificent view up there.

Kayaking
We went kayaking around the lagoon and to an isolated sandbank not far from the shores. We were the only people in the island! I love how exclusive this feels ❤

The guests of Anantara Dhigu have the privilege of visiting its sister resort, the Veli. We went there a few times to try the food. It’s only two minutes by boat from our resort.

For those days you feel a little lazy, you may just unwind in the spa, borrow a book in the library, or simply lounge inside your villa.

I love beaches and Anantara Dhigu set the bar really high. For a frequent traveller like me who’s always on the go, it’s a beautiful experience to be some place and just savor every minute of it without thinking what to do or where to go next. That’s what Maldives is for me now. Pure relaxation in the perfect setting. It’s truly a paradise in this side of heaven. Would i go back soon? I wish I could do it every year! Haha.
